Francophile and French resident since 1969 – both in Paris and in the Perigord, Southwest France – my Paris apartments and country home nevertheless betray my British origins ! The three apartments could hardly be more centrally located – right in the heart of the Marais and all within one or two blocks of the enchanting Place des Vosges, the most pure example of 17th C French architecture around a delightful garden with benches beneath the shady trees.
The narrow medieval streets of the Marais reveal secrets at every corner – fine old houses, hidden courtyards, tempting boutiques, cafés and restaurants to suit every taste and budget. A privileged location with many popular sites within walking distance – the Picasso Museum, the Musée Carnavalet (museum of the history of Paris), the Ile St Louis, the Ile de la Cité, Notre Dame, the Conciergerie, the Sainte Chapelle and an excellent choice of metro lines with 5 minutes walk taking you swifly and safely to the Louvre, the Champs Elysées, the Musée d’Orsay and much more ! On Thursdays and Sundays the street market on the Boulevard Richard Lenoir, just five minutes walk, is a feast for the eyes. Stock up on cheeses, pâté, oysters, fresh fruits and wine direct from the producer !

The country farmhouse cottage, Courrance, just outside the little village of Lacapelle Biron is a haven of peace in the Perigord region of France, with its rivers and chateaux, sunny villages, bastide towns, and famous local gastronomy. Less than an hour’s drive from the Dordogne valley, just a little further to Sarlat, the Lascaux cave paintings and much more ! A stream runs along the boundries of the property and a waterfall will lull you to sleep as you sun yourself on the pool terrace beneath a fragrant rambling rose !
